The Lasik Procedure
After your consultation and complete eye exam with our surgeons we are now ready to proceed with surgery.
On your surgery day you will be examined once again by the surgeon and led into the laser room. There you will be given topical anesthesia to numb the surface of the eye, the cornea. Once you are comfortable the surgeon makes a corneal flap. This portion of the cornea is approximately the thickness of a human hair. It is placed back exposing the surface area to be treated with the laser beam. The laser ablates the exposed corneal surface in a matter of seconds and the flap is laid back down. After a couple of minutes, the flap has adhered and we administer eye drops. Your surgeon sees you one again at the slit lamp to be sure all looks well and sends you home. We encourage a nap after the procedure to help with the healing process.
