Cosmetic and Corrective Treatments

Magruder Eye Institute specializes in procedures that can correct vision issues related to obstructions such as sagging eyelids, as well as cosmetic procedures that improve patient appearance and confidence. Most procedures that improve vision typically have aesthetic benefits as well.

Our board-certified Ophthalmologists provide consultation during appointments to help patients better understand their condition, explain surgical and non-surgical options, and recommend the best treatment path.

Among the procedures we offer:

BOTOX® in Orlando, FLBOTOX Logo

BOTOX® is frequently used by the doctors at Magruder Eye Institute to treat many conditions such as Progressive Spasms, Hemifacial Spasms, and Eyelid Myokymia. One condition it is frequently used on is known as Benign Essential Blepharospasm. This condition causes severe eyelid twitching which can be annoying and, in severe cases, debilitating.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical treatment that is used cosmetically to temporarily smoothen moderate to severe frown lines between eyebrows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. One short treatment – a few tiny injections – and within days there is a noticeable improvement in those persistent forehead lines. The results can last up to four months.

An exciting new use for BOTOX® has been recently approved by the FDA. This use addresses hyperhidrosis or excessive perspiration. This is a debilitating condition that has been treated topically in the past. Once this condition is diagnosed by a medical professional, treatments with BOTOX® may begin. Magruder Aesthetics Center is pleased to have Dr. David M. Mills, who is qualified to administer Botox for this condition.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Orlando, FL

Sagging of the upper lid is common and occurs with older age. It is caused by loose excessive skin, weak muscles, or a combination of both. Repeated stretching causes the skin and muscles of the upper eyelid to lengthen. Additionally, bags may develop under the eyes with age. Though less frequent, some young individuals can experience this condition. In some cases, this sagging skin can hinder vision. When this happens, a procedure called Blepharoplasty is used to remove the excess skin and tissue to clear the visual field. Blepharoplasty can also be used to improve patient appearance by eliminating loose skin and wrinkles to create a younger look.

Blepharoplasty is performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation. Incisions in the eyelid are usually placed in the crease above each eye to correct problems of the upper lid. To remove the fatty deposits beneath the eyes, the incisions are placed just inside the lower eyelid. Incisions are closed with tiny absorbable sutures.

Oculoplastic procedures are performed by Dr. Mills. To schedule an appointment at Magruder Eye Institute, please call (407) 893-8200.
